The 2010 Chinese Grand Prix was one to forget for Tonio. After a disappointing qualifying session in which he couldn’t make it into Q2 and qualified 18th, the race proved to be even more disappointing. Due to the low track temperature Tonio was unable to warm up his brakes properly in the formation lap. As soon as the race begun he struggled with his brakes and after just tree corners, the rear of his car completely locked in the fourth corner and he went of, crashing into Buemi and Kobayashi.

Tonio commented: “Unfortunately I had a problem warming up the brakes on the formation lap due to the cold and the rain and then when I went into corner four on the first lap and braked, the rear completely locked and I lost control of the car and went off. It was a shame as we had had a really good start and gained three positions in just the first corner and it could have been a very interesting race, particularly with how the conditions panned out. But that’s how it is, it didn’t go our way this time, but we will keep pushing for the next races.”
