GP Turkey: Race

Vitantonio Liuzzi1. L. Hamilton, McLaren, 1:28:47.620
2. J. Button, McLaren, +2.645 secs
3. M. Webber, Red Bull, +24.285 secs
13. V. Liuzzi, Force India, +1 lap

Tonio was unable to score any points in today’s thrilling Turkish Grand Prix. He had good start off the line and moved up to 15th before the first round of pit stops. Because Vettel spun off after a collision with team mate Mark Webber and Vitaly Petrov got a tyre puncture in lap 54, Tonio moved up two spots, finishing the race as 13th.

Tonio said: “It was a long race, but we knew we would have a difficult one after the qualifying yesterday. We realised that we are struggling with the car and I still don’t have the grip. I tried to push hard at the beginning with the strategy but in the end we knew it would be a big job as when you don’t have the right grip it’s tough.”

“We finished 13th on the road, but the pace was not too bad, particularly at the end. We now need to work back at the factory to understand why it’s happening so I can get back in the points again.”
