After a four week break Tonio returns to action at his favourite race, the Belgian Grand Prix. Held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the heart of the Ardennes forest, the race is famed for its awesome combination of corners, unpredictable racing, weather and wheel to wheel action. Tonio tells what he did during the break and why he’s looking forward to this race.
According to Tonio, the famous Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium is the most beautiful and demanding one on the Formula One calendar. Set amid the rolling hills in the Ardennes forest, it has long been a favourite among drivers due to its challenging nature, including the famous flat-out Eau Rouge turn and the La Source hairpin. For him, there is nothing that compares.
Tonio thinks that it would be a tough ask for a female driver to succeed in Formula One due to the physical and psychological demands of the sport. Bernie Ecclestone said that somebody like Danica Patrick would be ‘a perfect advert’ for the sport in a recent interview on the official F1 website. But Tonio thinks Patrick, who has raced mainly on Oval circuits in America, would find it hard to adapt to Formula One.
